Bocos de Duero
Bocos neighbors have received a large inheritance
Bocos de Duero is a historic village and municipality of Spain, in the province of Valladolid, Castile and Leon. It has an area of only 6.2 km2, the smallest of the province, with a population of 63 inhabitants and a density of 10.16 inhabitants / km2.
The municipality is located at the mouth of the stream of Cuco (Mother stream) when flows into the Father Duero. The village is situated at the foot of a hill near the valley of the Cuco, a narrowing of the field resulting in a dense green landscape, unusual and surprising in these plateau lands.
Therefore, we will meet a core population in their homes watching two sides, the small stream of the Cuco, and the Duero, a river that by now you have large volumes of flow. The village is almost sandwiched between two moors to the north and with a clear and open to the south Duero river bathing area.
His most important building is the Church of Nuestra Señora de las Nieves (Our Lady Virgin of the Snows), gothic building of the XIII century, which stands next to the road that comes from walking across the valley. It is stone, with a charming tower. It stands under plant a single nave covered by wooden framework which in turn is covered with plaster. It has two rooms, where the chapel is covered with pointed barrel vault and the vestry does so with tiercerons. There is also a high choir on the feet with paintings of the fifteenth century. They are also noted, the altarpiece and the image of the Virgin patron made in the fifteenth century. It can be visited by contacting the City Council.
For this reason, their festivals are historically dedicated to the Virgen de las Nieves (Virgin of the Snows). They develop during the first weekend of August, and there are plenty of festivals and cultural events and theatrical performances. Also on the 15th, the Virgin of August, invited to participate in the small towns of the Valle del Cuco.
Another celebration that every year becomes more important, is the Cultural Week of Valle del Cuco, held in mid-May, along with the five municipalities of the valley, so that weekday develops every day in a different town, and the weekend each year in a village.
This is a town that takes great care of the quality of its vineyards that produce grapes. His neighbors have mastered the art of making wine, an artisan heritage they have received from previous generations who have bequeathed not only history, "bocos" and vineyards, but especially passion for good wine and the pride of knowing elaborate with the highest natural quality.
Extreme weather conditions in the northern Castilian plateau - altitude of 800 meters above sea level, cold winter and hot summer - along with the proximity of Duero River, provide the finest grapes for winemaking.
In 2006, passionate about this ancient craft tradition, we have created a winery equipped with the most modern and hygienic facilities, imitating our growers predecessors from Bocos, to get the most exquisite incomparable flavor of these grapes to satisfy the senses of the most refined palates.
