Our red wine Señorio de Bocos "Crianza", from the 2007 vintage has won the Zarcillo Silver award in the fourteenth edition of the international competition organized by the Agricultural Technological Institute of Castilla and Leon in 2009.
Zarcillo Awards The biannual event is sponsored by the International Wine Office (OIV) and the International Union of Winemakers (UIOE) and it is integrated into the World Federation of Major International Wine and Spirits Competition.
The contest is open to all wine-producing countries of the world. The concept of wine taken into account is the definition adopted by the OIV.
In this edition of the Zarcillo Awards, experts have had to sample a total of 3,099 wines provided by 787 national and international wineries, as indicated by the organization at the time, a significant increased participation expected. In the edition of 2007 2.189 samples were received, bringing the increase is set at no less than 43.5%, more than I expected the organization to overcome estimated 2,500 wine samples. The organization has taken care to detail the handling and preservation of samples received have been considerably exceeded in number and place of origin to the previous edition.
The various juries, have been integrated for a total of 72 tasters, half from outside Spain, which since March 30 until April 2, 2009 met at the Provincial Wine Museum of Valladolid, located in the castle of Penafiel (Valladolid).
